Nice video from Thunderbird No. 4 in the slot. I can't get any audio on this, though your mileage may vary. Neat to see just how close they get. Link after the pic, since Kinja is being Kinja.

Well yeah I have the sound of the planes flying and such if that's what you mean.

Yep - I hear the audio.. Check your mute button... ;-)
You can hear the pilot adjusting thrust almost constantly...
Amazing how close these guys get while 'flying paint'... I wonder if the slot A/C rudder gets singed flying that close to the lead.

Hmm. I don't get any audio on my end. Does the video embed for you? Or are you only seeing a link?

That's what I want to hear! I get sound on other YT videos. Hmm.

No, the video embedding doesn't work anywhere on Kinja today. Must be that time of the month.

just a link in kinja, BTW... no embedding. Kinja has a case of the Mondays.

That was incredible. I actually got a little queasy during the close formation roll.

I remember reading that the F-4 slot's vertical stabilizer was so hard to keep clean they just decided to stop cleaning it, eventually just painting it black.

That's right - I remember that now...
The F-4 Phantom was a great A/C with many 'special' quirks to keep crew chiefs and pilots on their toes. They were also sooty bitches.
The F-4's that flew out of my wing had IFE's regularly (usually for a 'stiff stick' or 'lazy stick' on long transit flights (where the control dampers - basically a bellows, I am told - would freeze up causing the pilot to have to exert great stick force to maintain authority over the flight control surfaces) followed by fuel dumping and barrier arrests on base followed by lots of excitement on the flight line... Fun times.
